Shift Start and Shift end is one of the key functions within YumaPOS.

Start Shift is used to unlock the POS Terminal application, create and process orders and receive payments.
As mentioned earlier, to begin a new shift we have to verify the cash drawer balance and, if necessary, make changes. In this case, we’ll start with zero.
Right after activating the Shift Start, the POS terminal application will be unlocked for use, limited only by the access level granted to the user.
After the Shift Start, YumaPOS will begin updating the report modules and cash drawer balances for this terminal.

To close a shift, open up the menu and tap ‘end shift’.
If there are still unclosed orders or customers to still be served, we recommend closing these orders before ending a shift.
If you have multiple POS Terminal applications connected to the same store, café or restaurant and new orders are still coming in, you can just ignore this step by tapping on the “You have unclosed orders” button.

By tapping this button, you confirm you’re aware there’s unclosed orders outstanding and that they will either be transferred to the next shift or closed from another terminal within the same shift, perhaps by another cashier.

Remember to confirm the cash drawer balance before completing the ‘cashier out’ function. This is described in more detail within our cash drawer video.
For the final step, generate a Shift report and then close it with the ‘End Shift’ button.

Depending on your models and configurations, your pin pad, receipt printer or full printer may also produce a paper copy of your end-of-shift reports. The default setting is for a non-mandatory shift report printout, but it will be saved to your system and made available in the Cash Drawer history log.

Once the shift has ended you will be sent back to the initial authorization screen.
When next entering the system for a new shift, you’ll be guided back through to the initial process we went over earlier.
